You Want Fries With That?

The Ben Franklin Store has fabrics that the local JoAnn's doesn't so once in a while I stop over there and check.  Most of the time I can't afford it, their prices are $5 more a yard on everything, it seems.  But this last time I did find a print with hamburgers on it.  Little 3" wide burgers on a black background.  I splurged on one yard and managed to get 52 individual cat toy burgers which I cut around and put a brown back on.  So basically it gave me little 'patties' of burgers. To fancy them up a bit I added a spray of green or red felt next to the side of the meat section that I cut short, indicating lettuce leaf and tomato slice there.

I tried to find a picture of the print online but apparently it's been discontinued, none of the links went to anything still viable.  Bummer.  Suffice it to say the print is 'realistic' that I found and made some nice burgers.

Boelter's Restaurant Supply Store had to go containers in a 6 inch size.  They've got the black plastic bottoms and clear plastic tops.  A set of 50 of them cost $12 which makes each container only 25 cents in cost.  I put two burgers in and a fake ketchup and fake mustard packet in, and added a small catnip filled 'liquor bottle' at the side to make Two Burgers And A Brew.

The ketchup/mustard packets were done in red and yellow felt, a 3x2 1/2" piece folded in half, with a 2" piece of red (or yellow) 1/2" wide rickrack out the top, and used a pinking sheers to cut the top and bottom to indicate the jagged edges those packets usually have.  A bit of catnip went inside those too.

The bottles were curbside finds near the various liquor stores, I washed each out really well and made sure all of them had the screw on caps. Then went onto the internet and found a picture of two cats leaning against each other as they walked, sized that picture down in Microsoft Word and added the text of 'Nip Brew, Don't Walk Home Alone', and cut those out and taped them to the bottles with 2" wide, clear packing tape. They looked great!  Tip* -- fill the bottles BEFORE you put the labels on, make sure to wipe down the outsides clean of powdered nip too.

The whole set looks great and can easily sell for $5.  I have 26 sets all ready to go now for the Ren Faire.
