A week gone with nothing much done

Well, I have GOT to get a pile of hanging bat type creatures done before the end of the month so I can get a digital photo of them up on the website, featured for the month of February. They all need wings yet, and ears stuck on. Procrastination seems to happen fairly regularly lately.

That and the fact I got a loaned copy of The Davinci Code which I want to get into. It's one of those books where you DO NOT want to read the last page...trust me. It gives something away you should wait till you actually get to before reading.

Other than that--the merchant packet came for Pennsic War and that has to be filled in and sent off with the check for the fees/costs. And I did a catnip order for someone who has a cat merchandise website so maybe I'll pick up some sales from that too, in the near future. The entire stash I picked last summer is almost gone, I'm digging into my last two paper ream boxes full at this point. So picking catnip this summer is going to be mandatory again.

No Monkeys Yet

Sorry to say the Monkeys weren't even started, I had to play catch up on the catnip toys. I'd completely forgotten about doing fried eggs, and had to finish up those 50 mice. Not much time left before bed to do anything else. Or energy to do it with.

The Monkeys WILL be done. Just not today. Or Monday night either--I've got an appointment to meet someone for a movie as well as to finalize my loan at the bank, and Surface is on tonight. Too much going on to get into a new project so I'll finish up old ones.

Alone....Nobody Here.... Do I Work Or Do I Blow Off?

TWO nights in a row without anyone here, how did I get so lucky? Ok, guess it's time to work on more catnip toys since Steve's out of the house and he won't be nauseated by the smell of crushed catnip being jammed into fabric mice. I actually cleaned out the back seat of my car today and brought in the last of the catnip pickings from November, all completely dried and probably frozen multiple times over the past two months to boot. Fred (cat) found the stash immediately after I stuck it in the living room, and spent the day crushing it all flat by sleeping on it.

So, hopefully tonight I get to finish up about 50 mice if I have enough tails for all of them.

I seem to be productive lately. I spent 6 hours working on catnip toys last night--I stopped around 1am, but I was on a roll which was why it was going so late.

Soft Sculpture And Stuffies

NEW item to be worked with this weekend - the Flying Monkey troop. I want to get at least 35 of these cat-sized things cut out of the craft fur and machine sewn on Saturday. Hopefully stuffed too, but that may be hoping for too much.

What's being worked on today

Today--well today I'm catching up with some online orders, I owe two people a batch of catnip toys and need to get those finished up and out in the mail by tomorrow (or I don't get paid!). Damn but the post office had to go and put the price of shipping anything UP again, even internationally.

Otherwise, if I have time before it gets too late (and after I get the sidewalk shoveled, it's got 2" of wet snow down right now and more still falling) I'll tackle the new paper doll art I've been sketching out on scrap paper. Get the main characters at least inked in and set up a lightbox situation to start in on the costumes.

An easy light box cheap artist trick--use the TV or computer screen. So long as the background is light in color, there's enough static electricity on either one to hold a piece of paper in place so you can work with the next layer of paper over it. Hurray for low tech art supplies, it saves me from buying a $50 actual real light box.
