Pennsic is over, I'm 'free' again
Boy was that an intense three months. Next year I'm aiming to have everything done and made by the end of May, if at all possible.
The bunnies sold up a storm, I only have a few left. 21 out of 30 flying monkeys sold, then 3 more after we got back (to people who didn't have the cash at war but still wanted them) AND I got an order for one in green fake fur and a smaller size darker brown one too.
The special order cat went, plus had so many lookers and a lady who put money down to have one made for her, that I'll do up some more of them for next year. Not as easy as it sounds since I didn't have a pattern and had free form cut it out. But I think I remember how to do it right. Plus I want to do up some foxes too, similar style. Several people specifically asked if I had any foxes so I'll give it a try.
The weather was good for the event. It would drop down to 43 degrees at night but we slept great that way. During the day it was between 75 and 80 usually. Sales were steady. The last Friday was the lowest intake, and Monday prior to that was the second lowest. I need to get new items though, people have been seeing pretty much the same stuff on my tables for more than a few years.
The insurance thing messed things up--all merchants were required to have insurance this year. 14 of them couldn't afford it so they weren't there this year. The guy next to us paid $400 for his for the 11 day event.... I went in with TW Moran on the group policy, so with 100 of us we each only had to pay $50. He's doing the group policy again next year, thank goodness. It keeps it affordable at least.
Now that the BIG event is out of the way I'm trying to focus on getting in to a few small local events around here. There's 2 coming up in Watertown, which will be a catnip toy type of thing for me, only small items on the table (it maximises sales I hope). Gotta get going on those this week or I won't have enough stock to make it through the event. It's only 1 day long, but it's outdoors and Pam & I have a 10 x 15' space to fill up.
Maybe now I can get to doing the official art for the White Whisker Cat Tarot. I need to get going on that project, it's been in the works for, um.... two years now? I've got most of the card images in rough sketches and have worked on the text for the booklet on each card as I went.
So that's what's happening, I can get back into the swing of things and post more frequently now. That and try to figure out how to make a million dollars with my art/craft work, if at all possible. It sure would be nice to pay off some of the bills, ya know?
