Feline Cuisine (cat toys by the 'set')

We have a restaurant supplies place in our city called Boelters which carries packs of take out containers with clear lids.  The usual amounts are 150 sets for a good chunk of money, but they did have sets of 50 for $27.  I know I couldn't go through 300 but I did get myself a stack of 50 bottoms and lids.   I wanted to make a grouping of cat toys for one set price and the take out containers were perfect for a good presentation.  The picture is a bit small but this is what it looks like. I made up my own labels with the title on it -- Shrimp With Broccoli Feline Cuisine -- and included a picture of a cat, a list of the foods descriptions (shrimp, broccoli florets, rice ball and fortune cookie) and they all filled up the container pretty good.

They wholesale at $5, pretty much $1 per toy, the small broccoli were .50 cents each, and retailed at twice that.  Apparently they sell pretty well, everyone loves the 'rice ball' since I used a great fuzzy fabric for that!

I suppose I could do up a home cooked meal kind of set too with chicken leg, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob or such.  Or a bakery selection with éclairs.   What the whole point to it is that the person gets to buy a set of coordinating cat toys for their kitty.  And so far it's gotten good feedback.  I've already gone through my entire first stack of take out containers.  Yeay!

One Event Down, Several More To Go

Pennsic War starts this week in Pennsylvania. I've been making items for it for the past 10 months, and spent 4 hours today inventorying and tagging everything.  14 boxes got shipped to it through Office Depot today.  They'll arrive at Cooper's Lake Campground on Wednesday and Terra Incognita will be selling them for me.

Generally she has a line of people waiting for her to open so they can get my cat toys.  The interest is still strong, even though I haven't had a booth there in the last 4 years.

14 boxes, $130 in shipping costs.  Crossing my fingers they sell everything.
